Catalyst Science Discovery Centre and Museum
Catalyst Science Discovery Centre and Museum brings science alive for visitors of all ages! Their ground floor, interactive gallery is home to a host of hands-on exhibits where visitors can film in the TV studio, create an animation, design a ball run, investigate video microscopes, solve the Net Zero Challenge and more! Learn about the history and heritage of the local area in the Birth of an Industry and Baker Galleries and discover a selection of the museum archive collection in the Gossage Room where they also host historical talks for adult groups. The museum archive holds a wide collection of material from some of the big names in the North West Chemical Industry such as ICI and Brunner Mond. Visitors can enjoy panoramic views across Cheshire from the glass-walled Observatory Gallery, the perfect place to enjoy a heritage afternoon tea or for uniformed groups or schools to experience a 'night at the museum' sleepover!
At weekends and during school holidays families can see a science show or get to grips with real experiments in their purpose-built lab which hosts an ever changing programme of hands-on workshops and activities. Making soap, investigating bubbles and learning about space are just some of the activities on the programme. Catalyst also offers free car parking, a gift shop and the Catalyst Cafe, the ideal place to enjoy a tasty snack or drink whilst admiring the riverside views of neighbouring Spike Island and the Mersey Gateway Bridge.
