The history of Chester (Deva Victrix) dates all the way back to AD79 when the Romans established a fortress site for the 20th legion (Valeria Victrix) which was charge with suppressing the army led by the warrior queen Boadicea.
From then to the modern day, Chester has continually evolved and adapted to become one of the richest cities in Britain for archaeological and architectural treasures.
