1. Knutsford Music Festival

One of Cheshire's most loved annual events returns for its ninth year from 4th to 7th June, transforming Knutsford into a brilliant hub of live music across a wonderful mix of genres. Highlights include a free outdoor stage on the Moor, the ever-popular Folk at the Theatre in partnership with BBC's Mark Radcliffe, and pop-up performances across venues throughout the town. Whether you're into folk, country, indie or Latin rhythms, there's something here worth making the trip for.

2. Chester Beer Festival

CAMRA's Chester Beer Festival returns to the gloriously grand Chester Town Hall on Friday 5th and Saturday 6th June. With over 36 real ales and nine ciders on offer, it's a proper celebration of quality craft brewing. Tickets include a festival glass, programme and a £10 beer voucher, and CAMRA members who book in advance go free. Tickets are available in advance or on the door.

3. Cheshire Afrofest

Queens Park in Crewe plays host to Cheshire Afrofest on Saturday 6th June, a joyful celebration of African and Afro-Diasporic heritage with live Afrobeats, Amapiano and Dancehall performances, authentic food including jollof rice, plantain and jerk chicken, plus family activities, dance troupes and workshops for all ages. A genuinely special community event and well worth the trip.

4. Warrington Music Festival

Also on Saturday 6th June, Warrington's biggest annual showcase of grassroots music talent takes over Golden Square and Time Square with almost 30 bands and artists performing across two outdoor stages from midday. Electro funk collective Winachi headline Golden Square, while The Bogtrotters lead proceedings at Time Square. Completely free and unticketed, this is one of the best free days out in the region this summer.

5. Comic Con Mania Chester

Comic book heroes, sci-fi legends and fantasy fandom descend on Chester Racecourse on Sunday 7th June for Comic Con Mania Chester. Expect special guest panels with actors, voice artists and comic creators, cosplay contests, an Artist Alley, gaming zones, exclusive screenings and plenty of collectable merchandise. A brilliant day out for fans of all ages and all fandoms.
