1. Funny Fest at Storyhouse, Chester

On Tuesday 27th October, Storyhouse Chester hosts Funny Fest, the ultimate half term day out for children aged six and over. Book a ticket for the headline event with Beano’s Directors of Mischief and Mayhem and create the Funniest Dennis the Menace Story Ever, and register early for one of the free acts including a silly science show, a draw-along with Beano illustrator Nigel Parkinson, or an interactive adventure with author Farhana Islam. 2. Halloween Outdoor Cinema at Tatton Park

Tatton Park sets the scene for a spooky outdoor cinema double bill on Tuesday 27th October. Hocus Pocus screens first at 4pm, the perfect family Halloween classic, followed by The Lost Boys at 7:15pm for those after something with a little more bite. Wrap up warm, bring a blanket and settle in for an evening under the October sky.

3. Knutsford Pumpkin Path

On Thursday 30th October from 4pm to 7pm, Knutsford’s beloved Halloween trail returns with a revamped Wallwood area adding to the fun. Families pick up an entry form and follow the map to discover 13 pumpkins hidden in shops around the town, each marked with a letter that together spell Trick or Treats. Completed forms go into the draw to win a family ticket to Tatton Park’s Christmas Mansion and a hamper from the Knutsford Olde Sweet Shoppe. Live performances from SMB Dance and Knutsford Beats Choir, Halloween characters along the route and a spooky graveyard, witches and pumpkin patch in the Wallwood area make this a brilliant free family evening.

4. Festival of Diwali, Chester

Halloween Saturday takes on a very different kind of magic as Chester celebrates Diwali on 31st October. Organised by the Sanjhi Indian Association, the parade begins at 11:45am on Watergate Street, making its way to Town Hall Square and on to Eastgate Street where traditional Indian and Bollywood dancing begins at 12:30pm, with performances from Sai Mayur Dance School, Lalita’s Namastey India Dance School, Manasa’s Gejje Dance and more. The celebrations continue from 2:30pm to 4pm at the Chester Unity Centre on Cuppin Street with workshops including henna hand painting, face painting, Diya making, Diwali art and Indian food and craft stalls. A joyful, colourful and warmly welcoming celebration in the heart of the city.

5. The Cirque Nocturne Ball, Chester Town Hall

Halloween night at Chester Town Hall promises to be one of the most spectacular evenings of the year. Step into The Cirque Nocturne Ball on Saturday 31st October for an immersive carnival and freak-show spectacular featuring fire dancers, animal sideshow curiosities, carnival acts and SpellBound’s signature showstoppers. Guests are welcomed with a spotlight moment with the event photographer and invited to explore the magnificent building in its entirety, including the infamous haunted Courtroom. A range of ticket options are available for every budget.
