The family friendly exhibits contain; six coin hoards, a medieval log boat, bronze age weapons, and so much more.Situated behind the Town Hall, in the old police station, the museum uses relief maps to illustrate how the town has grown and changed over time. Using interactive displays, figures from the past tell stories about what life was like in Congleton during times of war, revolution, and disease. Key themes and events such as the English Civil War, the textile industry, and the First and Second World Wars are interpreted though the museums extensive collection of art, photographs, and objects.Find out about the man who killed the King, John Bradshaw, who signed the death warrant of Charles I. Learn about the Roman Empire and see 2,000-year-old Roman coins up close. Discover the towns important role in the industrial revolution and how far a fustian cutter walked in a day. Imagine what it would be like to be locked into the old town stocks, to wear the scolds bridle or to be evacuated far from your Manchester home during the Second World War.There are monthly history walks around the town and an exciting programme of talks and temporary exhibitions. We run a series of family friendly events and activities throughout the year.
