Quarry Bank Scarecrow Festival

Visit from Saturday 3 October – Sunday 1 November for Quarry Bank’s Scarecrow Festival.

Celebrate autumn, Halloween and the changing colours of the landscape at Quarry Bank. With a scarecrow trail, storytelling, crafts, games and activities, there’s something for all the family.

Summer opening hours: 10.30am–5pm until Sunday 1 November.
Winter opening hours: Begin w/c Monday 2 November. Open Wednesday–Sunday, 10.30am–4pm, until Friday 12 February 2027.

Sally Scarecrow Trail

Trail sheets are £2.50 per person and are available to collect from Visitor Reception.

Poor Sally Scarecrow has never found her scare! Autumn is here again, and she has a harvest to protect. Journey around Quarry Bank to find ten scarecrows who have spent years perfecting clever tricks and spooky surprises to keep every pesky crow away from their patch. What tips can she learn?

Autumn indoor play space

Admission charges apply. Free entry for National Trust members.

The indoor play space on the top floor of the mill will bring little ones hours of autumn fun. Enjoy soft play, giant Snakes and Ladders, plus autumn-themed games, crafts and storytelling sessions.

3 and 4 October: Scarecrow Festival Launch Party – join in seasonal games, dancing and prizes!

10 and 11 October: Take part in scarecrow workshops and make your own scarecrow.

17 and 18 October: Have fun training to become a scarecrow.

Apprentice House Spooky Tours

Please note that you cannot pre-book this event. To avoid disappointment, we suggest arriving early at Visitor Reception as tickets are limited for each tour. Quarry Bank opens to visitors at 10.30am. Suitable for children aged 6+. National Trust admission charges apply. Free entry for National Trust members.

Go on a quest with the Stranger Folk app this Halloween

Download the new National Trust Stranger Folk app and begin an immersive adventure inspired by British folklore. The interactive game features goblins and other creatures who lurk at some of the historic houses we look after across the UK.

The app is designed for children aged 7–12 and can be downloaded for free from the Apple App Store and Google Play. The National Trust encourages visitors to download the app ahead of their visit to Quarry Bank, depending on the Wi-Fi signal.
