Petty Pool Trust Celebrates a Fantastic Day Supporting the Chester Marathon 2025

The Petty Pool Trust was proud to be part of the incredible community effort behind this year’s MBNA Chester Marathon, which took place on Sunday 5th October, bringing together thousands of runners, volunteers, charities, and local businesses across the city and further afield.

A team of Petty Pool volunteers joined forces with hundreds of others to run one of the event’s busy water stations, handing out drinks, cheering runners on, and soaking up the amazing atmosphere.

This year’s marathon saw over 7,500 runners take part, with many raising vital funds for local and national causes, including Danny Rowlands, who ran the marathon to raise funds for Petty Pool. The day was filled with smiles, determination, and a real sense of community pride, which the charity was delighted to play a part in it.

“It was such a privilege to be involved in this year’s marathon,” said Sally Garratt, CEO of The Petty Pool Trust. “Our volunteers were fantastic, full of energy, encouragement, and teamwork. Events like this show the very best of our local community, and we are proud to stand alongside so many other brilliant organisations who gave their time to make it such a success.”

Danny, from Chester ran the marathon in an impressive 3 hours 48 minutes, raising funds for the charity, who support young adults with learning disabilities and difficulties into independence and employment. Danny, running for a cause close to his heart and passionate about supporting neurodivergent people to realise their potential, and so far, has raised over £300.

The day was extra special for Petty Pool, with Community Manager Kat Hooley also running, showing true determination, and proudly wearing her Petty Pool vest.

“Being part of something so uplifting and inclusive is incredibly empowering,” Sally continued. We’re passionate about teamwork, inclusion, and giving back, and the Chester Marathon is a wonderful example of what happens when the whole community pulls together.

The Petty Pool Trust extends a huge thank you to the Chester Marathon organisers, fellow charities, local companies, and the many volunteers who made the day such a positive experience for everyone involved. The team are looking forward to getting involved again in 2026.
