5 Things to do this Week - 13th - 20th July
Looking for something fun to do? Here are 5 fantastic things to do in Cheshire this week.
1. King Arthur and the Holy Fail at Quarry Bank
The Three Inch Fools bring their gloriously funny take on Arthurian legend to the grounds of Quarry Bank in Wilmslow on Sunday 19th July at 7pm. When Camelot is rocked by a frankly improbable incident involving a large table of an undisclosed shape, Arthur is thrust into the quest of a lifetime in this epic tale of medieval mayhem, daring knights and destiny refusing to cooperate. Pack a picnic, bring sun cream and wet weather gear just in case, and prepare for an enchanting evening. Booking essential.

2. Peppa Pig's Big Family Show at Storyhouse, Chester
Peppa, Mummy Pig, Daddy Pig and George are back at Storyhouse Chester this weekend with a brand new live stage show packed with music, adventure and surprises for little ones. With a new family arrival on the way and plenty of building and decorating to be done, the whole family needs your help to get ready in time. Multiple performances across both days, with tickets from £16 for children and family tickets available. Children under 12 months go free.
3. Spitting Feathers Beer Festival, Waverton
A July tradition returns to Spitting Feathers Brewery at Common Farm in Waverton this Saturday 18th July. This is as good as a beer festival gets: a fantastic range of cask and keg beers and ciders brewed on site, a legendary hog roast using pigs raised on the farm and fed on spent brewery grains, live music and great food from trusted local suppliers. The festival also raises money for worthy local and national charities, with over £30,000 donated to date. A brilliant summer afternoon in the Cheshire countryside.

4. Warrington Arts Festival
Warrington Arts Festival goes galactic this year, running from Saturday 18th to Saturday 25th July across venues and pop-up spaces throughout the town. The centrepiece is Luke Jerram's awe-inspiring seven-metre sculpture of Mars, suspended from the ceiling of Parr Hall and created using detailed NASA imagery, free to view with pre-booking required at key times. Beneath it, live music nights feature Manchester band HENGE on 23rd July and a rare intimate club night on 24th July with Dave Haslam joined by Stephen Morris and Gillian Gilbert of New Order. The festival closes at Bank Park on 24th and 25th July with Pigments, a jaw-dropping free outdoor aerial spectacular from French circus company CirkVOST featuring 12 acrobats performing 15 metres above ground. One of the most ambitious arts festivals in the region this summer.
5. Canal Town Summer Sundays at the National Waterways Museum
Every Sunday this summer, the National Waterways Museum at Ellesmere Port brings its seven-acre site to life as a living museum, and this Sunday 19th July is a great time to visit. Step back to the days when Ellesmere Port was a thriving canal town, with costumed guides, lock and Power Hall engine demonstrations, horse boating and canal music throughout the day. A fascinating and family-friendly way to spend a Sunday morning and afternoon.
