A Very Crewe Christmas arrives as the town's festive season begins

Crewe is heading into its festive season, with Christmas lights, family activities and a town centre trail expected to bring people into the area throughout November and December.

A Very Crewe Christmas, delivered through Discover Crewe and funded by Crewe’s Business Improvement District (BID), has been created to support the people, places and businesses that make the town what it is. Throughout the festive period it will spotlight local shopping, seasonal food and drink, gift ideas and family-friendly moments to enjoy across the town.

Visitors will find decorated windows, festive displays, selfie spots and plenty of places to explore across Crewe town centre, Nantwich Road and Grand Junction Retail Park. From Christmas shopping and days out with the kids to relaxed evenings with friends, there are lots of ways to enjoy the season.

As part of the campaign, the Crewe Christmas Express Trail offers families a way to explore the town centre during the festive season. The five stops include short clues, photo moments and trail words to complete a Christmas word search. Trail sheets are available from Crewe Market Hall or can be downloaded online. A bonus Golden Stop at Crewe Station celebrates the town’s rail heritage, and completed sheets can be posted at Crewe Market Hall for the chance to win £200 to spend in Crewe this January.

Graham Saunders, Chair of the Crewe Business Improvement District board and General Manager at South Cheshire Glass, said: “A Very Crewe Christmas brings together activity across the town, giving people more reasons to visit and explore. From the lights to the events happening in each area, the focus is on supporting local businesses and creating a positive experience for everyone who comes into Crewe.”

A Very Crewe Christmas also brings together several festive highlights funded or supported by Crewe BID. These include the new seasonal lights at Grand Junction Retail Park, the BID Funded Tree on Nantwich Road and support for the Nantwich Road Action Group’s Christmas activity on Saturday, December 20th, when the Rotary Club of Crewe escorts Father Christmas along the route at around 10am.

Crewe Town Council’s Christmas Lights Switch On takes place on Saturday, November 29th from 2pm to 7pm, with market stalls, live entertainment, crafts, walkabout characters, a lantern parade, mini rides and the big switch on at 7pm.
