Searching for inspiration for what to do this week as the summer holidays are in full swing? We’ve compiled a list of our top things to do or see this week throughout Cheshire, with something for everyone to enjoy! 

1) On Thursday 15th August head to Warrington as they celebrate Sports Day as part of their Summer in the Square activity. Take part in lots of sporting activities provided by TRY Sports and an interactive rugby walkabout provided by Fairly Famous Family.

2) The Great Summer Social has returned to Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet, the ideal place for a fun-filled family day out and designer brands for up to 60% less. 3) This month there are two fantastic events to enjoy at Chester Cathedral. Your Kaleidoscope, a stunning installation from British artist Liz West. Known for her wide-ranging works which blur the boundaries between sculpture, architecture, design and painting, West creates works that are both playful and immersive.

Plus back by popular demand Pete Waterman and the Railnuts have returned with Making Tracks. See Watford Junction from the West Coast mainline featured in minature with the 64 foot long railway. Come along and have a go at driving trains for yourself.

4) This week Catalyst Science Discovery Centre have a range of fun family workshops and events to enjoy. Firstly Home:Zero, enter a fantastical world where time is limited but you really can make extraordinary things happen! Imagine a more sustainable future in this playful interactive installation where National Gallery paintings provide a magical starting point to think creatively about our own homes.

The Earth is changing and scientists are working hard to address many environmental issues. Take part in hands-on activities looking at; the land – with bug hunting, the air – making a simple air monitor and the oceans – investigating the effects of ocean acidification on shells. Then go and learn about one of nature’s best scientists – the honeybee. Experiment with stings, learn about bee-hives and make a buzzer so you can buzz like a bee!

5) Escape the summer sun and step into the shadows as you embark on a fright-filled with Deva after Dark, a voyage back 2000 years to the ancient Roman fortress of Deva Victrix! With your scream team by your side, explore the darkest corners and deepest depths of this crumbling citadel where tales of the macabre are brought vividly to life in three dimensions! This live-action summer scare experience pulls back the veil on the city's darkest, grittiest, and ghoulish Roman history as you discover Deva After Dark!
