Winter Watch & Saturnalia Parade

Experience Chester’s most dazzling festive spectacle on Thursday, 11th December 2025, as the Winter Watch and Saturnalia parades combine for one unforgettable evening.

Witness the Roman Emperor Domitian reclaiming the city, with the 20th Legion carrying flaming torches and delivering an enthralling address to the crowds, re-enacting ancient rituals of Saturnalia and the midwinter feast of Saturn.

The magical procession features the Lord of Misrule, fire breathers, giant skeletons, dragons, samba drummers, and more, ending with a spectacular fire finale and a jubilant celebration in the streets.

6.30pm - Roman Saturnalia Parade, starting from the Grosvenor Museum
7pm - Winter Watch Parade, meeting the Romans in Town Hall Square
