About

Biddulph Grange Garden - National Trust

Biddulph Grange Garden is a stunning Victorian garden with a unique compartmental design, creating garden rooms themed to different parts of the world. Originally created by Darwin contemporary James Bateman as an extension of his beliefs, interests and collection of plants from across the globe, the garden has been restored by the National Trust to be close to his original vision. Discover a pyramid made of clipped yew in the Egyptian Court, guarded by four sphinx statues. Explore the country's oldest Stumpery, the inspiration for many others (including Highgrove, King Charles's home) around the country.

Take in the tranquil beauty of the garden's show piece, the Chinese Garden with its iconic bright red bridge and temple building, complete with locally made roof tiles. For younger visitors looking for an adventure, the Woodland Walk has plenty of bridges and balance beams to play on.

Eat: Housed in the former billiard room, the Tearoom has a delicious range of cakes, sandwiches and hot meals alongside an array of hot drinks. Remember to bring a reusable mug for 25p off any hot drink. Shop: Take a piece of the garden home with you with a visit to the plant centre, home to an ever -changing display of seasonal perennials, shrubs and bedding plants. The Shop also has a wide range of gifts and souvenirs, including locally sourced beer, gin and mugs, making for perfect gifts for family and friends or a treat for yourself. Assistance dogs only in the garden.
