The Grinch in Whooville grotto arrives in Time Square Warrington

Warrington is about to get a lot greener as a brand-new experience, The Grinch in Whooville Grotto, lands in Time Square this weekend.

Families can step inside a playful world full of mischief and laughter, with every child taking home their very own teddy. The grotto transforms an empty unit next to Costello’s Bar into an interactive world packed with surprises.

Councillor Hitesh Patel, Cabinet Member for Economy, Growth and Quality Work, said, “The Grinch in Whooville Grotto is such an exciting addition to Time Square. Families can enjoy every corner of this playful, mischievous world while the character causes all sorts of fun inside. It is a playful and wonderful experience for children to enjoy together with family and friends in the heart of Warrington.”

Open across three weekends, Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd November, Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th December, and the final weekend before the big day on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st December, running from 11am to 3pm. Tickets are £10.95 per child and must be booked in advance.

There is also a quieter Accessible Grotto Hour on Saturday, November 22nd and Sunday, December 7th from 10am to 11am with softer lighting, lowered music, and autism-aware staff.

While the character causes mischief inside, Time Square offers plenty to explore. Visitors can enjoy a wide range of cafés, food and drink, entertainment spots, and festive treats while soaking up the town centre's festive spirit.

Cllr Patel added: “This is just one of many festive events taking place across Time Square. With walkabouts, funfairs, markets, and seasonal surprises around every corner, there’s plenty for families to see and do. The Grinch in Whooville Grotto is sure to be a real highlight that children and parents will remember long after their visit.”
