Sefton Borough, Merseyside, UK
Kevin Ruane
Kevin Ruane MBE is the official Town Crier for Southport and the wider Sefton Borough in Merseyside. Though his tenure began just 18 months ago, he has already established a very competitive presence, securing 4th place in Otley and 2nd place in Great Harwood in 2025.
His vocal command is rooted in a distinguished military background. He is proud to serve as the Honorary Sergeant Major for the Royal Army Ordnance Corps Association, where he leads former comrades at the Cenotaph in London every Remembrance Sunday. Following his military service, he transitioned into the fire and rescue sector in both Germany and the UK, and in 2012 was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire in recognition of his contributions to international development within the fire service. He is currently Fire Safety Manager for the North West Ambulance Service.
A fluent German speaker with extensive experience representing British interests abroad, Kevin bridges local tradition with professional excellence. His career, spanning the armed forces, the fire service, and now civic ceremony, has been defined by a commitment to public service. Whether in full livery or advising on fire safety, he remains a powerful, dedicated voice for his community and his country.
