Alderney, Channel Islands

Kevin Moore

As the Town Crier of a very small island, with a population of just over 2000 people, Kevin is well known in the community. He took over the role from Robin Whicker - who previously competed in Chester in 2014.  He auditioned Kevin on a windy beach and appointed me as his successor.

In Alderney, his main role is during Alderney Week (billed as the biggest festival in the Channel Islands) where he leads Cavalcade and the Torchlight Procession.  He would bring with him three bells; the original bell used by the Town Crier after the second World War, a WWII ARP Wardens bell (which was used by Robin for his 30 year tenure) and a new bell specially commissioned from Black Country Metal Works in 2025.

Kevin has fulfilled this role since 2020. He proclaims during commemorative events such as VE Day too and is also invited to open local businesses on occasion.
