Toowoomba and the Darling Downs Region, Australia

Kevin Howarth

Kevin Howarth, also known as "Krazy Kevin," is the official Town Crier and Ambassador for Toowoomba and the Darling Downs Region. Originally from England, Kevin began his career as a DJ, winning the UK DJ of the Year title twice and travelling all over the UK and Europe, including Iceland, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain, before moving to Hong Kong, then Dubai, and eventually settling in Bahrain for 13 years. There he DJ'd in an Irish pub, became the Morning Show presenter for the biggest radio station in Bahrain, and presented a weekly TV show interviewing guests live. It was in Bahrain that he met his Australian wife, and the couple eventually moved to Australia in 2011.

Kevin carried on DJ'ing and started a radio show, through which he interviewed the local Town Crier. The two became great friends, and when his friend sadly passed away after a battle with cancer, Kevin applied for the vacant role nine months later and got the job.

Since becoming Town Crier he has been involved in the Australian Town Crier Championships every year, winning numerous awards including Australian Champion, Loudest Cry, Best Dressed and a Media Award. A lover of trivia, he has also appeared on The Chase, Mastermind and the satirical weekly show The Cheap Seats.

As his mum always said, he will talk to anyone, and for Kevin, being Town Crier is not really a job at all. It is all about meeting people, which he absolutely loves doing.
