Judy Campbell

Judy Campbell is the current President of the Australian Town Criers' Guild and Australian Champion Town Crier, representing Campaspe Shire, Victoria and Murray River Council, New South Wales, Australia, bordering the Murray River. Her official area spans approximately 16,400 square kilometres with a population of 48,000, though her hometown of Tongala has just 2,000 residents. Echuca and Moama proudly boast the world's largest fleet of working wooden-hulled paddle steamers and red-gum forests.

Known affectionately as the "River Goddess," Judy has held the National Guild Champion title four times in Australia, been Open International Champion of New Zealand on three occasions, and was World Champion runner up in 1997. She has been awarded numerous Ambassador, Best Cry, Best Content and Best Dressed categories in Australia, New Zealand, UK, Canada, USA and Belgium competitions, and is renowned for her Kookaburra Cry.

Extremely comfortable promoting host regions and sponsors during media interviews, she once gave scone baking tips on BBC Cornwall radio. Having hosted World Invitational Tournaments twice and numerous Australian competitions, she is well aware of competition protocols and is available to assist with promotional activities whenever required. In addition to her Town Crier duties, Judy is also a Celebrant and author.

Judy is accompanied by her long-suffering husband, Peter, who is dressed in the manner of James Maiden, Moama's founder.
