Jan Veen

You wouldn't be able to look past Jan Veen, towncrier of Winschoten, county of Oldambt since 2017. Nearly two metres tall and not to be described as slender, he is truly a crier to be seen, even in a crowd. He took over from his father, who had been towncrier before him, after he fell ill and passed away. His father enjoyed Chester very well when he was there, and Jan would love to go in his footsteps this year.

As a towncrier he has been active at schools, markets (4 every year), sports tournaments, care homes and other events where a booming voice and commanding stature makes the difference. He will be happy to attend and elevate any occasion. Many times accompanied by his longtime partner Marjan, they both wear unique and matching uniforms, partially designed by Jan himself.
