Bellis Brothers, Wrexham
Strawberry picking has deep roots in this corner of Cheshire. Bellis Brothers, nestled in the Dee Valley on the outskirts of Holt village and within easy reach of both Chester and Wrexham, has been growing fruit and vegetables here since 1860. Back then, local "Strawberry Dodgers" were hired to pick the luscious strawberries that have been synonymous with this part of the county for well over a century. That same tradition carries on today, and you're invited to be part of it.
No booking required. Simply turn up between 10am and 5pm (last entry to the fields at 4:30pm) and pick strawberries and raspberries at your own pace. Check the Bellis Brothers Facebook page or call ahead before visiting to confirm availability on the day, as opening is subject to fruit and weather conditions throughout the season.
There's plenty more to make a day of it. The farm shop is stocked with local and seasonal produce, the butcher and deli counter is well worth a browse, and the spacious restaurant is on hand if you'd rather sit down to a proper meal after all that picking.

Libby's Patch, Macclesfield
Set in the Cheshire countryside at Gawsworth near Macclesfield, Libby's Patch is a family-run seasonal attraction with two great reasons to visit this summer.
Head to the strawberry patch and pick your own delicious, sweet strawberries straight from the plant. Entry tickets cost £2.50 per person (plus a small booking fee), with strawberries priced at £9.50 per kg so you pick exactly as many as you'd like to take home. Take a stroll along the strawberry mile, soak up the countryside views and make a proper afternoon of it. The onsite café is on hand for refreshing drinks, treats and something tasty to round off your visit.
Then there's the 4-acre sunflower maze to navigate. Find all the daily clues hidden through the winding paths and compete against each other to be first through. It's brilliant fun for all ages and a great way to spend a summer afternoon.
Why Pick Your Own?
It's affordable and educational, not to mention a great way to enjoy some fresh air and exercise. Let the little ones run around and burn off some energy. Plus, nothing beats the taste of sun-ripened fruit you've picked yourself.
Grab your sun hats and head off on a fruit-picking adventure in Cheshire. Your taste buds will thank you!
