The Story of Edith Smith

The Story of Edith Smith brings to life the remarkable journey of Oxton-born Edith Smith, Britain’s first female police constable with full powers of arrest. Set against the backdrop of the First World War, this moving site-responsive performance explores Edith’s resilience, courage and pioneering role in changing women’s place in public life.

Presented by Oxton Playwrights CIC as part of Her Stories of Wirral, the production blends theatre, local history and community storytelling to celebrate an often-overlooked figure whose legacy still resonates today.

There will be two performances at Port Sunlight:

Performance 1: 1:30pm
Performance 2: 5:00pm

Approximate running time: 1 hour 15 minutes.
