About

‘The Danny: Bringing the Manchester Ship Canal to the People of Warrington’

Manchester Ship Canal’s fascinating history has been brought to life at Warrington Museum and Art Gallery.

The Daniel Adamson (affectionately known as The Danny) is a beautifully preserved steamship which has led a fascinating life: from a working vessel on the Mersey and the Manchester Ship Canal, to a luxurious Art Deco society vessel.

This display tells the incredible story of how The Danny was rescued by a dedicated volunteer force and brought back to life as a piece of living maritime history. See a detailed scale model, historic pressure gauges, and a genuine fog horn from Latchford Locks.
