See Museum of the Moon After Dark

By day, Luke Jerram’s Museum of the Moon is spectacular. A six-metre replica of the lunar surface, suspended inside Chester Cathedral, illuminated with stunning NASA imagery, it stops you in your tracks the moment you walk in.

But come back at night, and it becomes something else entirely.

Chester Cathedral is opening its doors on four special evenings throughout the run of this extraordinary installation, and if you only do one thing this month, make it this. As the Cathedral falls dark and Dan Jones’ exclusive soundtrack drifts through the ancient Cathedral, the Moon seems to come alive overhead, vast, luminous, and impossibly close. More immersive. More atmospheric. More unforgettable.

Deckchairs, drinks, and the Moon above you

We invite you to step inside, purchase a warm refreshment from our pop up cafe, pull up a deck chair and simply….look up. Let the Moon do the rest. There’s no agenda. No schedule. Just you, the music, and one of the most extraordinary sights you’ll see in Chester this year.

It’s moon gazing as it was always meant to be, warm drink in hand, the world outside forgotten, your thoughts drifting somewhere between the Cathedral ceiling and the stars.
