Drop into the University of Chester Riverside Museum for a free self-guided tour to see some remarkable exhibits.

Curiosities from medicine, nursing, midwifery and social work (including an original letter from Florence Nightingale written from Balaclava), The First World War: Returning Home exhibition on the war’s effects on health and social care, plus the remaining four stained-glass windows from Chester Royal Infirmary.

The First World War: Returning Home exhibition provides an insight into what a soldier invalided back from the Front would have found on returning to Cheshire. Using local examples wherever possible, the exhibition covers aspects such as medical advances, the psychological effects of war, volunteering and volunteer nurses, a doctor’s country practice, rural life, and social welfare.

This visit to the Riverside Museum is a drop-in event with no tickets required.
