Across the Tracks. The Art of Nantwich Station Footbridge exhibition
The footbridge – its design, construction and condition – is the subject of a temporary exhibition at Nantwich Museum, called ‘Across the Tracks. The Art of Nantwich Station Footbridge’. The exhibition, curated by Malcolm Reid, is being staged in the Community Gallery at the museum, and runs from 9th June to 20th June 2026.
Nantwich Railway Station footbridge was built about 125 years ago. Made of iron, this once proud structure is now corroded in places and needs a good coat of paint. In its present condition, the footbridge overshadows the magnificent work done to maintain and improve the station environment by the Nantwich Railway Station Adoption Team, a voluntary group acting for the train operating company.
In the exhibition a series of black and white photographs are presented. These photographs emphasise the aesthetic appeal of the structure, particularly when the various structural elements are viewed in relation to one another, and from different angles and in contrasting light. All the photographs were taken by Malcolm Reid, a member of the Nantwich Railway Station Adoption Team and Nantwich in Bloom. Financial support for the exhibition has been provided by 3 Counties Connected Community Rail Partnership (covering areas of Cheshire, Shropshire and Wrexham).
Entry is free to the museum and exhibition. The museum in Pillory Street is open from 10.00 am - 4.00 pm (Tuesday - Saturday).
