With just over one week to go until the big day, we’ve put together a list of our top things to see and do across the county this week.
1) Journey to Oz at Tatton Park
Get swept away on a magical adventure through the iconic scenes of The Wizard of Oz, brought to life within the grandeur of Tatton Park's historic mansion.
Wander through the beautifully decorated staterooms, from the exciting adventure following the Yellow Brick Road to the sparkling Emerald City, all adorned in beautiful festive decorations. If you can't make it this week, don't worry its on until 29th December. Find out more here ->
2) Take in a show at the Brindley
It's the perfect time to take in a show at The Brindley, Runcorn. On Monday and Tuesday this week, you can see Santa's Christmas Cracker, a festive family show where you will help a lost little penguin experience Christmas for the first time. Or if you are looking for something more traditional, you can catch Aladdin until 5th January. A show packed with spectacular scenery, dazzling costumes, hilarious jokes, singalong songs and fun for all the family.
This weekend, award winning actor Craig Cowdroy, presents his one man show. A powerful, humorous and emotional adaptation of the Charles Dickens timeless tale - A Christmas Carol. This well-known story is a fabulous family show with something for everyone, and also a few surprises! And if that's not enough you can catch a festive film with a range of classics to choose from including The Muppet Christmas Carol, Gremlins, The Polar Express, The Nightmare Before Christmas and It's a Wonderful life. 3) Festive films at Jodrell Bank
Talking of festive films, you can catch a couple at Jodrell Bank this week too, as this year they are turning the planetarium into a festive cinema. This weekend there is an afternoon showing of Home Alone (2.30pm) on Saturday or Elf (2.30pm) on Sunday. Book your tickets and they include an annual pass to Jodrell Bank so you can return as many times as you like. Book here ->
Also from Tuesday to Friday this week see Jodrell Bank as you've never seen it before. Immerse yourself in festive lights and Christmas shopping, while enjoying delicious seasonal treats like hot chocolate, mulled wine and tasty offerings from the café.
Enjoy the new Science Show ‘Starlight Spectacular’ and special screenings of the beloved classic The Snowman in the Space Dome. Children can reach for the stars at the astronaut dress-up and creative Christmas crafts, adding an extra touch of fun for all ages.
Wander along beautifully decorated paths beneath a canopy of starlight, where thousands of sparkling fairy lights guide you towards the iconic Telescope. Explore the twinkling grounds and be inspired by the exclusive Astronomy Photographer of the Year exhibition, showcasing award-winning images of distant nebulas, planets, and galaxies that capture the awe of the cosmos.
It’s a perfect evening to embrace the festive spirit and create new memories with your loved ones at Jodrell Bank’s Winter of Wonder.
4) Cookie Making with Trixie and Mixie Elves at The Ice Cream Farm
From Wednesday this week head over to The Ice Cream farm for Cookie Making with Trixie and Mixie, Santa's special elves. Includes meet with Trixie and Mixie including photo opportunity, a cookie making kit including toppings and festive shape cutters, your handmade cookies baked in the oven and placed in a presentation bag and a single play to use on any attraction! 5) Pete Waterman Making Tracks at Blakemere
Remember a magical childhood Christmas when you woke to find Santa had left you a toy train set? This week you can revisit those happy memories of yesteryear at the Pete Waterman’s ‘Making Tracks’ installation at Blakemere Village.
For the second year (following its success at Chester Cathedral), Pete Waterman and the Railnuts team will be returning to Cheshire Outdoors at Blakemere Village near Northwich with their brand new layout.
The huge model railway installation includes interactive elements for children and adults with a few hidden surprises! Don't worry if you can't make it this week, it's on until 5th January. Find out more about Making Tracks ->
