Step into a world of wonder beneath Luke Jerram’s breath-taking Moon installation at Chester Cathedral for a truly unforgettable family day out. In partnership with Carrot Productions — the company behind the Cathedral’s much-loved, annual sell-out The Snowman performances — enjoy a magical celebration of our lunar neighbour, packed with film, live music and hands-on creativity. At the heart of the day will be special screenings of Wallace & Gromit: A Grand Day Out, with the iconic soundtrack performed live by professional musicians, bringing Nick Park’s much-loved classic thrillingly to life. Families can also choose to take part in an optional Moon-themed creative workshop, with clay stations where children can make their own moon-inspired plasticine characters.

After each performance, you’ll have the chance to meet the musicians, and there will also be opportunities to have your photograph taken with Wallace & Gromit in the stunning, historic surroundings of the Cathedral. About A Grand Day Out In Nick Park’s first film featuring the famous duo, Wallace and Gromit set off on an extraordinary adventure when their search for cheese leads them all the way to the Moon. After a few mishaps with their homemade rocket, they land just in time for lunch — but a mysterious mechanical inhabitant is not quite as welcoming as they expect…

Designed especially for this event by Aardman model-making expert, Jim Parkyn, these relaxed, self-led workshops give you everything you need to mould, squish and shape your very own Moon plasticine character — inspired by Wallace & Gromit’s lunar adventure. A brilliant activity for children (and grown-ups!), and a perfect souvenir to take home. Optional add-on. Limited spaces available.
