Cheshire Day is an annual celebration held on March 30th to honour the rich history, culture, and contributions of our great county. The date commemorates the charter of liberties granted to Cheshire by King Edward I in 1300, which functioned similarly to a local Magna Carta.
This year day will be marked by various activities that highlight Cheshire's unique food offer. Cheshire is celebrated for its rich culinary heritage, from the iconic crumbly and tangy Cheshire cheese, one of England’s oldest, to its thriving farm-to-fork movement showcasing high-quality local produce. The county’s lush countryside supports sustainable farming, while its towns and cities, like Chester, Knutsford and Nantwich, boast vibrant food scenes with award-winning restaurants, quaint tea rooms, and an emerging craft beer and gin industry.
Cheshire’s food culture shines at events like the Nantwich Food Festival and Taste Cheshire Food and Drink Festival, which highlight local producers and artisans. With its blend of tradition, innovation, and exceptional quality, Cheshire remains a top destination for food lovers.
