Winter Wildlife Wander at Burton Mere Wetlands
Join our friendly and highly experienced guide for an inspiring and informative walk across the reserve to spot all the wonderful wildlife we have to offer in winter.
This two- and half-hour walk is aimed at all levels of knowledge, for those that wish to improve their wildlife watching skills and would like to learn more about the fabulous species we have here.
We'll explore all the main areas of the reserve to try to spot species like, Great, Cattle and Little Egrets, winter visiting Redwing and Pink-Footed Geese, wonderful Widgeon and Pintails and all the other wonderful winter wildlife moving in. Our experienced leaders will explain why and when these fabulous creatures decide to visit our unique reserve, the wider work we do to make this reserve so brilliant, the history and journey we’ve been on to make the reserve what it is today.
Please dress appropriately for the weather on the day and have sturdy footwear. This event involves walking around 2 to 3 miles with some steps and gradients. Paths around the reserve are accessible for wheelchairs and small mobility scooters. We also have a mobility scooter you can hire from the Visitor Centre. If you require any adjustments for this event please let us know beforehand.
Bring your binoculars, or hire some from us on the day. We have a café onsite, so there will be plenty of delicious refreshments for you to purchase if you wish after your walk. Ticket price includes your reserve entry fee for non-members. You're welcome to purchase tickets for your enthusiastic teenage children, however our guided walk events are not suited to small children.
