About

Threaded Footsteps

Inspired by the book Threads of Women’s Stories, this specially curated trail invites you to explore the lives of remarkable — and often forgotten — women who shaped our local history.

As you walk through the Heritage Centre, follow the threads that connect past and present: from factory workers and caregivers to campaigners, artists and everyday women who made extraordinary contributions to their communities.

Drawing from the rich stories featured in the book, the trail brings these narratives to life through artefacts, letters, audio, and visual displays. Each stop reveals a different aspect of women’s lived experience — their work, struggles, creativity and resilience — woven into the fabric of Cheshire’s heritage.

Whether you’re retracing the steps of Ada Nield Chew or discovering lesser-known local heroines, this trail is an invitation to listen, reflect, and connect with the many threads of women's stories still unfolding today.
