Heritage Open Days

Architecture – Buildings, Bridges and Beehives!

Visit Catalyst FREE OF CHARGE on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st September as part of the National Heritage Open Day Events.

Heritage Open Days is England’s largest community led festival of history and culture, involving thousands of local volunteers and organisations. Every year in September it brings people together to celebrate their heritage, community and history. Stories are told, traditions explored, and histories brought to life. It’s your chance to see hidden places and try out new experiences – and it’s all FREE.

In 2025 we’ll be exploring how we’ve designed and built the world around us.

Visit Judith and her team in our Gossage Room where you’ll find a selection of rarely seen artefacts from our archive collection. Discover more about the buildings and bridges in our local community.

If that’s not enough, you can explore the Interactive gallery with a host of hands-on exhibits or learn about the history of the local area in our Birth of an Industry and Baker Galleries. You can marvel at the 360 degree views from our glass-walled rooftop Observatory Gallery where you can see many of the local buildings and bridges!

Of course, you can also browse the museum shop or stop for a tasty snack or drink from the Catalyst Café whilst admiring the views of Spike Island and the Mersey Gateway Bridge!
