Join us for a fascinating tour as we discovers the secrets of Chester Castle

As part of the 2025 Heritage Open Days Festival, English Heritage are offering exclusive free guide tours of Chester Castle at 12:00 noon on 16, 18 and 19 September. You will visit the 12th-century Agricola Tower. Climb up the first floor to the Chapel of St Mary de Castro, which contains some exceptionally fine wall paintings from about 1240. Then onto the tower roof for spectacular views of the city and beyond.
Please note there is a spiral staircase to the Chapel and roof. Please arrive 15 minutes early at the main gate into the castle. The tour is suitable for ages 8 and above, dogs welcome on leads and donations are welcome. After your tour why not browse through our second hand bookshop.
