October Half Term
Dara McAnulty
Dara McAnulty
Join brilliant young Dara McAnulty, winner of the Wainwright Prize for Diary of a Young Naturalist, on a journey through nature at night. Hear from Dara as he’s joined by (host) as they chat about the wonder of the nocturnal world around us and Dara introduces his beautiful informative new book A Wild Child’s Guide to Nature which is illustrated in colour by Barry Falls.
There will be plenty of time for questions as they (Dara and host) talk of embarking on night-time adventures, and explain how to use all your senses to experience the wonders that unfold at night. Journey through five different habitats in Britain and Ireland – meet hedgehogs and moths in the garden; tawny owls, foxes and badgers in the woodland; corncrakes and dormice in the countryside; pine martens, glow-worms and mountain hares in the heathlands; and hear stories of the birds and animals that inhabit the skies above. The event will be full of fantastic facts about nocturnal animals, activities on how to spot them and ways that we can help the natural world around us. Once you understand just how amazing our beautiful planet is, you will want to do everything you can to protect it.
