He has walked hundreds of miles in Roman military gear, including Hadrian's Wall, and is known to lead history tours in Italy and Germany. Drawing on extensive research and his bestselling novels, Ben will separate fact from fiction in the brutal world of Roman gladiatorial combat. Discover the reality behind the Hollywood myths and learn what life was really like for these legendary warriors of the arena.

Thursday 16 October, 7pm Northwich Library at Weaver Hall Museum The Spartacus Rebellion

Explore the extraordinary true story of Spartacus, the Thracian gladiator who led the most famous slave revolt in Roman history. Ben will discuss his acclaimed Spartacus novels (The Gladiator and Rebellion) and reveal the historical research behind this legendary tale of courage and defiance.

As a special bonus at the Northwich event, attendees will have the opportunity to view a travelling display of Roman artefacts, including a Roman flagon, roof tiles, bowl, amphora neck, and a statuette of Venus.
