As we head in February, we’ve put together a list of our top things to see and do across the county this week.
1) Rode Hall Snowdrop Walks
Experience one of the UK’s finest Snowdrop Walks at Rode Hall & Gardens to mark the start of spring. A beautiful end-of-winter walk for all the family with a wonderfully diverse landscape and over 70 varieties of snowdrops. Rode’s stunning snowdrops are one of the natural treasures of the North West of England. Open Thursday to Sunday until 1st March.
2) Andean Adventure Trail, Chester
Chester's marmalade-loving bear is moving from Foregate Street and heading on an adventure around Chester City Centre, visiting a different location every month while meeting new friends along the way. Starting this week until 31st July, join in and become an Andean Adventurer for the chance to win a £100 Chester Gift Card! Pick up your Andean Adventure Passport from the Visitor Information Centre. Collect all 6 stickers and send an image of your passport to take part.
3) Professor Phil Bull - Chaos at Cosmic Dawn
This Thursday you can livestream a brand-new Lovell Lecture from Jodrell Bank with Professor Phil Bull. Explore the Universe's Cosmic Dawn, where powerful telescopes like the James Webb Space Telescope are revealing an extraordinary glimpse into the Universe's earlier moments, uncovering surprising cosmic mysteries that challenge our understanding of how galaxies and stars first formed.
4) Jamie Douglas-Hamilton - The Big Row
This Thursday head to Combermere Abbey to hear from Jamie Douglas-Hamilton, as he talks about the first man-powered crossing of Drakes Passage and other adventures. Tickets include a glass of prosecco and canapes during the interval.
5) The Monocle Short Film Festival, Macclesfield
The Monocle Short Film Festival is a brand new festival celebrating short films taking place in Macclesfield this Friday. Hosted at the beautiful Monocle Cafe, where you will enjoy an intimate and personable experience for filmmakers new and old. With filmmakers invited to host a short Q&A before each showing, this will be a night not to be missed!
The Monocle Short Film Festival is not just about showcasing films but also creating a space for the future of cinema and inspiring the next generation of artists.
