Daresbury
A small picturesque village, best known as the birthplace of writer Lewis Carroll. The stained-glass window in All Saints Church depicts characters from Alice in Wonderland.

Daresbury is thought to be unique as it possesses a name unconnected with any physical or geographical feature. Instead it takes its name from an ancient family that once lived here. The earliest written record of it is from 1250 where it is mentioned in a record at Chester Court.

The actual farmhouse in which he was born has long been demolished, but a plaque marks the spot where he stood.
