Marbury Country Park
Picturesque village in the heart of the Cheshire countryside, with mere lakes to the south and east sides of the village. A regular winner of the Best Kept Village Competition.

The village became known as Marbury in 1260 and means 'the burg by a lake', the burg being the Anglo-Saxon fortified manor.

Renowned for its lakes or meres, formed when water filled the numerous glacial depressions which were left after the last Ice Age.

The Big Mere, lies south-west of the village and to its maximum depth is 26ft and provides a wealth of habitats for waterbirds, reeds and vegetation.

On the village green, stands an oak tree, which was planted to commemorate the Battle of Waterloo in 1815.
