Soak up the sunshine this Summer Solstice with Jodrell Bank’s action-packed programme celebrating our closest star! This special event marks the highest point of the Sun’s journey, a moment to honour the life-giving energy that nourishes our planet.

From stellar family activities during the day, to exploring celestial wonders in the evening, there’s a ray of fun for all ages…

DAYTIME PROGRAMME

Join us at the Summer Solstice for a lively, family-friendly celebration of the longest day of the year. With interactive workshops and hands-on activities, come and explore the wonders of light, space, and the natural world. Includes:

Solar observing outdoors (weather dependent)

A special, Sun-themed Science Show

Marking the Meridian Line Moment at the First Light Pavilion

Carnival beats, revelry, and puppet fun from Global Grooves

EVENING PROGRAMME

The Longest Light evening event is a chance to unwind with sundowners, expert presentations, and thought-provoking discussions that explore the science, significance, and symbolism of the Sun.
