As we head into February half-term, we’ve put together a list of our top things to see and do across the county this week, plus a few extras!
1. Geology Rocks at Catalyst
Bring the family to Catalyst this week for a chance to take part in their Geology Rocks workshop. Come and be a geologist in this hands-on workshop. Make your own rock, extract salt crystals from rock salt and create a volcano in this fun, family activity. Find out more ->
2. Chester Family Foodie Tour
This week, try something different! Take the family on a foodie tour of Chester where you will get to taste a variety of delicious foods that showcase the best of Chester's culinary scene. This tour has been designed with families in mind, young participants will receive a Foodie scoring sheet at the start of the tour. They are encouraged to score each venue on Presentation, Smell, and Taste. This interactive element keeps kids engaged and makes them feel like true food critics! Find out more ->
3. Scarecrow Festival at Tatton Park

4. Crewe Making Festival
The first-of-its-kind FREE, family-friendly festival of making, Crewe//Makes 2025 is here this week! Dotted around the town centre in unexpected, easy-to-find locations, including the Victoria Street Crewe//Makes ArtSpace, hands-on workshops will take place alongside street performances, exhibitions and more this weekend from 11am – 6pm.
Plus you can expect FREE, drop-in activities happening throughout the week, including shop window exhibitions in The Market Centre, alongside the relaxed and welcoming Maker//Monday and Wellbeing Wednesdays at the Crewe//Makes ArtSpace. Find out more ->
5. Poppy Fields at Chester Cathedral
This week Luxmuralis returns to Chester Cathedral with a brand-new show - Poppy Fields.
Poppy Fields is a poignant and moving sound and light show that will take you on an immersive journey through fine art sound and light installations that transform the Cathedral spaces creating a walking curated experience.
Poppy Fields will utilise a brand-new route around the Cathedral, and will incorporate a collection of fine art projection artworks that reflect on the end of World War One and World War Two, but more importantly, look at the hopes and wishes for peace in our world and the future. Find out more ->
