With just two weeks to do until the big day, we’ve put together a list of our top things to do or see across the county this week.
1) Christmas at Cotebrook
This weekend Santa is visiting a special grotto at Cotebrook Shire Horse Centre. Each grotto ticket will be valid for a Santa visit including a gift for each child as well as admission to the farm (open 10am til 5pm) plus FREE return visits for a month. Find out more about Christmas at Cotebrook ->
2) Candle Making at Hawarden Estate
On Wednesday head to Hawarden Estate and join Steph from Woodspring Co as she takes you through a step-by-step beginners class on Candle Making. Choose the scent of your candle before pouring it, naming it, and taking it home. Plus mince pies, mulled wine, and unlimited tea and coffee are included. Sounds like the perfect festive evening to us! Find out more about Candle Making with Woodspring Co ->
3) A festive visit to Storyhouse
There are two great reasons to visit Storyhouse this week. The first is to see Dear Santa where you and your little ones can help Santa and his elves to find the perfect gift for Sarah. Be quick to book though as tickets are selling fast!
On Thursday evening you can settle down next to Storyhouse's grand Christmas tree with a mulled wine or winter cocktail whilst you enjoy their special themed menu and watch the festive classic 'It's a Wonderful Life' on the big screen. Christmas just isn't Christmas without this timeless, feel good film!
4) Winter Watch and Saturnalia Parade
This Thursday evening the Winter Watch parade joins forces with the Roman Saturnalia parade taking the city from the 1400's back to its Roman occupation in 47/48 AD. With fire breathers, devils, skeletons, ice queens and Jack Frost. Don't miss this, it's the last parade of the season! Find out more about the Winter Watch and Saturnalia Parade ->
5) Gawsworth Christmas Tree Festival
All this week you can pop into St James Gawsworth Church to see it filled with stunning, decorated Christmas Trees. The church will be open 11am to 4:30pm daily with evening openings on Tuesday 10th and Thursday 12th from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. FREE but donations welcome. After visiting the Church there will be tea and coffee with hot and cold snacks available in the church hall together with a market stall selling handmade Christmas goodies and a giant bottle tombola.
