Also in attendance will be the brilliant Steel Drum Band, keeping everyone entertained in between performances and while they enjoy the other amazing activities on offer such as a Literary Tent, hosted by local author Kirsty Duncan.
A community picnic area will be set up in front of the stage and residents are encouraged to gather their friends, family, a blanket, and chairs and enjoy a FREE fun day out for all the family! Find out more ->
2) A heritage lecture in the Space Dome
A brand-new series of Heritage Lectures returns to Jodrell Bank in their Space Dome. Discover hidden histories and surprising stories as leading scientists, archivists and historians reveal Jodrell Bank's 80-year tale of intrigue, resolve and radio waves.
During the operational phase of the Soviet probe launch of Sputnik 1, the British signals intelligence agency, GCHQ, deployed a staff member to Jodrell Bank. Their role was to intercept transmissions from the spacecraft. As GCHQs relationship developed with Jodrell, further research focused on the launches of Soviet reconnaissance satellites, orbital weapons, and space probes.
