Nantwich Food Festival entertainment is always eagerly anticipated, and Festival Town Centre manager, Graham Witter has really pulled out the stops with all the entertainment he has booked for the Festival weekend from 11am 30th August until just before the Festival closes at 5pm on 1st September.
Festival Friday kicks off with local grown talent, the lovely solo singer and guitarist, Erika Ignata, who will be singing in the town square from 11am-1pm.
The not-to-be-missed fun loving Funky Choir comes next, so if you enjoy 3 part harmony, then make sure you catch them on Friday afternoon.
Friday night entertainment is always great fun; we will again have the great Studio S dancers on the Church green and those wonderful people from Circus in a Box, performing their amazing tricks on stilts all over the town centre plus fire breathing too.
Many town businesses will stay open later than usual on Festival Friday, and in addition to the food courts that stay open until Festival Friday closes at 8pm, there will be our favourite bars and restaurants to keep us fed until much later.
Over the weekend there is also the Punch & Judy, the Balloon Man, Poppy’s Krew and Cheshire Pop Choir plus solo musicians including Paul Armer. Of course Graham hasn’t forgotten the much loved brass bands on Festival Saturday and Sunday to complete the popular town centre line-up.
Continuing the entertainment theme, the two live music stages are sponsored by Snugbury’s at Love Lane, and by The Nantwich Hearing Centre for the Bowling Green music stage; the Festival organisers thank them wholeheartedly for their sponsorship and are very pleased to welcome both of these local businesses as returning Silver Sponsors. Silk FM will manage both music stages and provide the continuity to ensure that there is plenty of music and interest to keep us all entertained.
Festival Music Co-ordinator, Kevin Lemon tells us that he has organised a great programme of live music throughout the Festival weekend to entertain visitors.
Friday at Snugbury’s Music Stage, Love Lane starts off with the brilliant local composer and pianist that is Andrea Lambelle; certainly not to be missed. Then it’s music with a quirky twist with Marc Gallagher, moving onto Jazz and Blues with the lovely Megan Lee, whilst Friday night headliners are Tokyo Misfires, with their 80s and 90s party music.
Meanwhile on the Nantwich Hearing Centre Music Stage by the Mornflake Pavilion, Friday visitors will be spoiled for choice, with not-to-be-missed singer Gemma Rose, followed later by the ever popular music duo, Baxter, XLS and with Stepping Lane finishing off the night.
Anyone who doesn’t catch Stepping Lane on Festival Friday, just needs to be at The Nantwich Hearing Centre Stage on Saturday morning to hear their Robin Soleimani. Next up another chance to catch Marc G, then Minstrels of Mischief follow early afternoon, with Delia and the Fellas later with their great rock music. Saturday night headliners are rock band Vavoom!
Festival Sunday, as expected, starts off nice and quiet, but the Hearing Centre’s Music Stage will be rocking at the end of the day with the incredible Shakermaker talent. Before then though, there are Sam Lyon – with her guitar, and Jane and the Hurricanes 5 piece band with their energetic upbeat R&B to enjoy.
Back at the Snugburys Music Stage, Festival Saturday kicks off with the talented Oscar Phillips, through vocalist Dave Chesworth, Baxter and the lovely Claudia Fenoglio, finishing off the day with the local, home-grown talent that is the indie band Unit 17.
Festival Sunday at the Love Lane end of town features the supremely talented jazz singer Annie Long. Up next is singer, guitarist Erika Ignata, fresh from her Friday morning set in the town square, Then there’s another opportunity to catch XLS, and closing down the Festival at Snugbury’s Music Stage is Mad Dog Davies Band – a not to be forgotten experience with their rock & roll, R&B, Rockabilly and everything else in between!
Still at the Love Lane area, the Children’s Marquee is again sponsored again by Whitegates, one of South Cheshire's leading Estate Agents, and the Festival organisers thank them sincerely for their Silver Sponsorship; Whitegates will have a stand within their marquee with property-related entertainment and information.
As always, this popular area will have lots of arty and crafty goings on to keep the younger visitors engaged, so expect competitions, glitter, face painting and lots of fun. Look out in August for more details of all the fun events planned for children.
