Searching for inspiration for what to do this week as we wave goodbye to the summer holidays? We’ve put together a list of our top things to do or see this week throughout Cheshire, with something for everyone to enjoy! 

1) Joy Division Day

The home town of singer Ian Curtis will hold its first ever Joy Division Day to celebrate the British band. Joy Division fans will be able to learn more about the post-punk band and its lead singer, who died in 1980 aged just 23, at the event in Macclesfield on 7th September. Curtis fan and tour guide, Trevor Stokes, will lead two tours to 12 stops around the town including to the singer's grave in Macclesfield crematorium. Find out more ->

2) Heritage Open Days

This week and next many destinations up and down the country are celebrating England's largest festival of heritage and culture. Many of Cheshire's heritage attractions and hidden gems will be opening their doors to the public for FREE! It's a rare opportunity for you to discover places not usually open to the public, behind the scenes areas and quirky places on your doorstep that you've been meaning to visit for ages! 3) The Women's Line

The Women’s Line is a new exhibition at the Silk Museum, featuring a snapshot of Macclesfield-resident women’s family trees presenting their female lines artistically through highly personal mixed media portraits and memories. The project engaged both artists and those not identifying as artists. Diverse adult community members attended 52 creative workshops and conversations across 7 months, building local creative community connections and opportunities. Culminating in this ambitious large-scale and immersive collective installation at the Silk Museum. Find out more ->

4) Fish and Chip Friday

Enjoy a tasty supper of fish, chips & peas from one of Chester’s finest chippys as you set sail on a two hour river cruise up to the picturesque Aldford Iron Bridge.
