Crewe Town Council has teamed up with touring soapbox festival organisers Krazy Races to bring a Soapbox Derby event to Crewe on Sunday 14th July 2024 to celebrate Crewe Day.
The free to attend event will bring all manner of fun, exciting races and activities to Crewe whilst raising substantial funds for local charities at the same time. The award-winning Krazy Races aim to deliver accessible, enjoyable and experiential events that create unique moments in time for audiences that last a lifetime. They have worked with big name organisations across the country including theatres, manufacturers, car dealers, educational institutes and even Premier League football club Wolverhampton Wanderers.
In 2023 alone, the popular soapbox derby event welcomed more than 150,000 visitors and raised over £100,000 for local charities at locations across the country, including two local events in Stockport and Northwich.
Krazy Races is now on the lookout for between 20 and 40 local teams to take on the challenge! The event sees a mixture of individuals, charities and business teams design, build and then race their handcrafted soap box down a hill in front of up to 20,000 locals as part of a festival style event that includes traders, entertainment and activities.
As well as thrilling races, Krazy Races are looking to work with local stakeholders and businesses to bring together entertainers, food stalls and more, giving families a fantastic day to remember.
Danny Scoffin, Head of Brand & Strategic Development for Krazy Races, said: “As a company, we are thrilled to be bringing Krazy Races to Crewe next year. I live in Crewe, so for me Crewe Krazy Races will be very special. I know the massive positive impacts our events make to the communities we visit and I can’t express how delighted I am today to finally be able to announce that we are bringing our ‘KRAZY’ event to Town.”
“We would like to say a massive thank you to Crewe Town Council for welcoming us to Town, we are really excited to be working with them and can’t wait to start meeting some of Crewe’s amazing businesses, charities and teams in the coming weeks. See you all on Sunday 14th July.”
A Crewe Town Council spokesperson commented: “This is fantastic news for Crewe and promises to be a fun, free to attend day out for everyone! We hope that lots of individuals and organisations from across our community will get involved to design and create their own soapbox creations and we can’t wait to see what they come up with.”
