Chester Philharmonic Orchestra is pleased to announce our 2023-2024 season of concerts. Our first concert will welcome back conductor David Chatwin and mezzo soprano soloist Joyce Tindsley on Saturday 18th November 2023 at 7:30pm in Chester Cathedral. The orchestra will be playing an exciting programme of music with a seaside theme. The full programme is Four Sea Interludes from Peter Grimes by Britten, Sea Pictures by Elgar, The Sea by Bridge and Fantasia on British Sea Songs by Wood. This is one of three concerts in our upcoming season of Postcards, including a Postcard from the Seaside in November 2023, a Postcard from Spain in April 2024 and a Postcard from the Danube in June 2024. We also have our annual Christmas concert with Chester Music Society Choir in December 2024 and The Gerontius Project in March 2024, a performance of Elgar’s The Dream of Gerontius in collaboration with Chester Bach Singers and Cantiones Choir. After our successful trial ‘Open Rehearsal’ in July 2023, we plan to continue to invite local children to attend our final Saturday daytime rehearsals at Chester Cathedral before our evening concerts throughout this season. We hope to inspire young musicians to play their musical instruments, join local orchestras, and attend classical music concerts. Founded in 1884, Chester Philharmonic Orchestra is a non-professional orchestra that performs a wide range of orchestral music with experienced conductors, internationally acclaimed soloists, and rising stars from top music colleges. Full details of all upcoming concerts this season can be found on the orchestra’s website. www.chesterphilorchestra.co.uk For further information, please contact us at publicity@chesterphilorchestra.co.uk
