Join artist Rachel Kerslake in this six-week course, with sessions on Thursday afternoons 1.30-4.30pm, designed to unleash your creativity through abstract botanical art. In a relaxed and supportive environment, you'll experiment with watercolour, mixed media, and collage, focusing on creative expression rather than realism. Rachel encourages you to embrace the process of discovery, helping you develop your unique artistic voice while exploring new techniques and materials. This course offers a space to take risks and grow creatively. Held in Cheshire Clay Studios' wonderful new Studio 2.
The course designed for adults with a passion for art who want to explore the beauty of botanical subjects in a fresh, creative, and abstract way. Suitable for those that are new to botanical art or experienced artists looking to try new things, this course encourages participants to push the boundaries of creativity, explore new techniques, and express a personal interpretation of nature.
We will work primarily in sketchbooks, using them for experimentation and self-expression, using a variety of media. We'll look at abstract botanical artists whose works celebrate the natural world through colour, texture, and form. The focus is on developing the participants' artistic voice, loosening up their approach to botanical subjects, and creating art that feels personal and expressive, rather than strictly realistic.
Who it's for: Beginners and experienced artists alike, anyone seeking a loose, abstract approach to botanical art.
Course dates: 1 May – 5 June on Thursday afternoons from 1.30-4.30pm
