When Civil War broke out in 1642, Nantwich declared support for the Parliamentarians against the Royalists. On the 25th of January 1644 a major battle broke out in Nantwich. The Parliamentarians were victorious and hundreds of Royalist prisoners were captured. Every year the Sealed Knot Society parade through the town in costume and re-enact this historic battle (Holy Holly Day) on Mill Island. A great day out for all the family with lots of activities and street entertainment around the town.
Join us from 10am for an exciting historical day out in Nantwich with music, historical plays, pike and musket displays, horse parade and the all important Battle on Mill Island at 2pm.
