Music,concert,strings,vale royal string orchestra,

Mark Lansom will direct the orchestra through a programme in a range of British music with works by Handel, Bridge, Delius, Trimble and Lansom in the wonderful acoustic of St Peter's Church, Little Budworth.
George Frideric Handel became a British subject in 1727 having become a favourite of Queen Anne. His Concerto Grosso Op 6 No1 demonstrates his ability to blend Italian influences with his unique compositional voice.

Bridge's Suite for String Orchestra is an example of Bridge's early 20th-century Romantic style. He studied at the Royal College of Music in London and Stanford. He was Benjamin Britten's first composition teacher,
Two Aquarelles by Frederick Delius was originally a choral work. Eric Fenby, Delius's amanuensis, arranged it for string orchestra. There are of two movements.

Joan Trimble an accomplished composer from Northern Ireland in her Suite for Strings captures the essence of Irish folk music.
Mark Lansom's "Welsh Folk Song Suite", was composed in 2011. It is based on four traditional Welsh melodies with more modern harmonic and rhythmic changes. We are privileged to give its first performance outside of Wales.
Mark is head of strings at The Kings School Chester and is a composer and arranger. He conducts the St John's Festival Orchestra in Chester and Wrexham Symphony Orchestra.
