Delamere Forest is the largest continuous area of woodland in Cheshire and it`s not for nothing that its name means Forest of the Lakes. Its` many meres and bogland areas make them a wildlife haven and theres even a Beaver Colony at Hatchmere Lake.
With well marked out accessible trails, Delamere is great for walking and cycling adventures for all the family and you can even hire a bike to explore. Younger visitors love to follow the themed sculpture trails and spot their favourite fictional characters such as The Gruffalo hiding amongst the trees.
Thrill seekers can book the Go Ape aerial adventure trail including a huge zip wire or explore the shaded trails by segway. For more information contact or call the forest visitor centre and cafe, a well sign posted 10-minute walk from the station.
But for platform side refreshments Delamere Station House is a popular stop off for hot and cold food, drinks, and ice creams. They also host a busy calendar of evening events which are found on their website.
For breathtaking views of Cheshire and beyond take the moderate climb up Old Pale Hill. You can gaze out over the treetops to the hills of Wales, Derbyshire and on a clear day the landmarks of Liverpool.
Delamere Railway Station has won a number of awards in the Cheshire Best Kept Station Competition.
