This is a black and white 18th century inn in Thelwall, a village founded in 923AD. The inn has a great character and charm. It is a spacious inn with several rooms and the floor is covered with either flagstones, floorboards or carpet. Throughout the place, walls have prints describing the history of the village and its surroundings. It has a low ceiling with exposed beams. Photographs, crossbows, enamel and metal pots and other bric-a-brac provide the decor. There is a TV in the public bar.

Food is served throughout the week, both at lunchtimes and in the evenings.

On the cobbled forecourt there are picnic tables laid out.

Children are welcome.

In winter quiz nights are held.
