A mum-of-three whose brutally honest exploration of parenting transformed her into an award-winning comedian is bringing her new tour to Warrington.
Sophie McCartney – better known as ‘Tired and Tested’ – will present One Foot in the Rave at Parr Hall on Friday, 30 May.
It will not be far to travel for the Liverpool-born stand-up, podcaster and double Sunday Times bestselling author as she now lives just down the road in South Warrington.
Sophie’s journey towards fame and ‘mumfluencer’ status began in 2017 when her parody of the Ed Sheeran hit, The Shape of You, went viral.
The relatable video about parenthood, sleepless nights, smelly bedsheets and Dairylea was simply created to entertain Sophie and her friends but it propelled her to internet stardom.
It was viewed millions of times on Facebook and YouTube and was reported on around the world.
Swapping a job in PR to share the day-to-day trials of bringing up young kids to a very knowing audience, Sophie has since scooped the ‘Funny Women Award’ for ‘Best Comedy Series 2020’ and was hailed as ‘the funniest mum on Instagram’ by Mother & Baby.
In 2022, Sophie’s first book, Tired and Tested: The Wild Ride into Parenthood went straight in at number one in the Sunday Times Bestsellers List and was shortlisted for ‘Book of the Year’. Her first fiction novel, Mother Hens, followed suit and again topped the Bestseller list in March 2023.
Last year also saw Sophie launch her weekly podcast, Tired and Tested with Sophie McCartney, which flew into the top five podcast comedy charts after just one episode.
Now Sophie is returning to the stage with One Foot in the Rave, a tour which will see her explore the next chapter in her life, having recently been kicked out of Club 18-30.
Tackling her perimenopausal panic with denial, delirium, and a shot of tequila – what does life look like when you’re ‘too old to be young, but too young to be old?’
Be sure to get tickets fast though because, last year, Sophie broke records when her first live show became the fastest selling debut tour for a female comedian – selling out within 24 hours, extended due to huge demand and going international with a leg in Australia and New Zealand.
