Stonehenge: Solstices & Stones
Research in the last 20 years has revolutionised our knowledge and understanding of Stonehenge and the people who built it. This talk presents the major discoveries from archaeological excavations, astronomy, ancient DNA, isotopes and geology about the construction and use of this enigmatic monument. Studies of Stonehenge’s landscape have shed light on its context within a larger ceremonial complex, while research into the sources of Stonehenge’s stones have led to new discoveries and new theories about the monument’s development and purpose.
